Hod sack talk is 'crazy'

Under pressure: Glenn Hoddle

Tottenham's assistant manager John Gorman today claimed that the club would be "crazy" to sack Glenn Hoddle for their disastrous start.

Hoddle is already thought to be on borrowed time after the club's worst ever start to a Premiership campaign.

Spurs have won just one of their five games so far and face Hoddle and Gorman's former club Southampton this weekend.

But Gorman, who has also worked under the Spurs boss at Swindon and with England, said: "To suggest that Glenn should be getting the sack on the strength of being beaten at Chelsea is crazy.

"Everyone is working very hard and pulling together to get things right.

"We've got a good squad now, with Stephane Dalmat and Paul Konchesky settling in, and we're sure we can get back to winning again."

Hoddle received another blow when he was charged with misconduct by the FA for comments he made about referee Rob Styles after the opening match of the season against Birmingham.
