Former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has congratulated Leicester and Claudio Ranieri for winning an unlikely first Premier League title.

The Foxes managed to win the title after the Portuguese manager's previous club Chelsea drew 2-2 with Tottenham on Monday night, to relinquish all hopes of the north London club picking up their first league championship since 1961.

And a year on from his own title triumph Mourinho was graceful in handing over the crown to Ranieri.

The two-time Champions League winner told CAA Sports: "I want to congratulate everyone connected to Leicester; players, staff, owners and fans.

"I lost my title to Claudio Ranieri and it is with incredible emotion that I live this magic moment in his career."

It was a 2-1 loss to Leicester in December that cost Mourinho his job at Chelsea, the second time the 'Special One' has been sacked at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho had taken over from Ranieiri in 2004, despite the Italian taking Chelsea to a Champions League semi-final and their highest position in the Premier League era, where they finished second to Arsenal’s Invincibles.
