Claudio Ranieri wants Leicester title stars to stay for Champions League challenge - 'the lads are like my sons'

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri has suggested that the grass might not be as green elsewhere if any of his Premier League title winners are considering a summer transfer.

After a remarkable year which has seen the Foxes go from narrowly avoiding relegation last season to being crowned champions this term, a number of high-profile teams have been linked with the club's star names.

Football Writers' Player of the Year Jamie Vardy, PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez and France international N’Golo Kante are all reportedly being looked at by Europe's top sides.

But Ranieri has sent a message to all his players that he thinks that they should stay for at least one more year and experience Champions League football at the King Power Stadium.

"It is much better to stay here for one year more and see what happens. Then maybe you can go anywhere," Ranieri said.

"The Champions League is another important league to compare yourself to other champions. The lads are like my sons.

"If they come to me I say this: ‘be careful’. Leicester in the long term will go to a very high position."
