Enjoy the freedom of the city streets

Prudential RideLondon is coming this August, so get on your bike and join in the family fun on traffic-free roads, passing historic landmarks

This August thousands of us will be taking to the streets for some memorable family fun on two wheels. Cyclists of all ages and abilities are being given the freedom to ride over 10 miles of traffic-free city roads past the capital’s world-famous landmarks, from Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament to St Paul’s and the Tower of London.

So put Saturday 9 August in the diary and register now for Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle, part of the Mayor of London’s multi-award winning festival of cycling.

You don’t have to ride the entire 10 miles: cyclists can enter and exit at any point – or even do several laps – and stop off to enjoy the entertainment along the way.

Or you can ride a shorter two-mile loop that takes in The Mall, Whitehall, Embankment, Parliament Square and Birdcage Walk – all close to Green Park, where there will be all-day entertainment and a host of familyfriendly bike -related activities, including BMX demos, a VeloPark and a Strider challenge for children from 18 months to five years.

Festival zones offering even more family fun can also be found at Guildhall Yard, Tower Hill, Leadenhall Market and St Paul’s Churchyard. If you register now you will even receive a free tabard.

There will also be Grand Prix races showcasing the Olympic cyclists of the future and professional women’s cycling with Prudential RideLondon ambassador Laura Trott out to defend her title in the women’s event.

Also put Sunday 10 August on the calendar, as this is your chance to cheer on the 24,000 riders in the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, as well as watch some of the world’s top professional men battle it out in the 200km Classic race.
