Renee's secret wedding

She played the world's most famous singleton who dreamed of a big white wedding as she consoled herself with glasses of Chardonnay.

But now Renèe Zellweger has joined the ranks of the Smug Marrieds after secretly tying the knot with a country music star.

The Bridget Jones star wed Kenny Chesney at a discreet mountain-top ceremony with 45 guests on the Caribbean island of St John in the US Virgin Islands.

The 36-year-old Oscar-winner wore a dress by Carolina Herrera - her favourite designer.

'No one on the island knew about the wedding until the night before and even then it was only a handful of people that needed to know,' said one islander.

After Monday's ceremony and reception, the wedding party moved to Chesney's favouite bar Woody's.

It is the first marriage for both the actress and the 37-year-old singer.

The couple met just four months ago at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief benefit where Chesney was singing and Zellweger was answering the phones.

According to one music magazine, Chesney long ago named Zellweger as his favourite actress and wrote his 1999 hit You Had Me From Hello after seeing her in Jerry Maguire.
