"You really feel that you are in the country as the train approaches Faversham, even the fields seem larger," says Daphne Jennings, who recently moved into a £105,000 twobedroom flat in Faversham, from Isleworth.

"I wanted to move to a cheaper area and chose Faversham for a number of reasons, one of which is to be near my grandchildren.

"As a non-driver, it is marvellous being able to walk to everything, even the station. I also love the many birds and that I can smell the sea and am on the edge of lovely countryside. Even my plants seemed transformed after only a few days of taking up residence here."
