Reasons to travel by rail

  • Deutsche Bahn (08702 435363) has introduced a new generation of sleeper on overnight trains out of Paris and Brussels to Berlin and Hamburg, with Munich and Milan to follow. These coaches have ensuite facilities and stewards providing room service.
  • UK station hotels are rediscovering their former glory. Check out the Midland Grand by King's Cross/St Pancras, The Scotsman at Edinburgh Waverley and the Burlington at Birmingham New Street.
