Michael Schumacher’s wife Corinna has been seen for the first time in public since the skiing accident which has left her husband fighting for life.

The devoted wife of the Formula One legend was seen leaving a restaurant in Grenoble just before 9.30pm last night.

Wearing a thick white scarf tied in a large knot and a dark jacket, Mrs Schumacher looked tired and drawn with dark circles around her eyes.

The 44-year-old has kept a vigil at her husband’s bedside since his accident on Sunday morning in the French resort of Meribel.

It is believed she was persuaded by family and friends to have a break from the hospital to “recharge her batteries and take a deep breath”.

Schumacher, who turns 45 tomorrow, remains in a coma.
