Star's kerb crawl arrest

Nathan Moore: arrested in clampdown

The lead singer of 1980s pop band Brother Beyond has been arrested for kerb crawling, it was revealed today.

Nathan Moore, now 39, was held in a police crackdown in London's notorious King's Cross red light district, a police source said.

The former boy band idol was quizzed by officers and has now been charged with soliciting.

He is due to appear at Highbury Corner magistrates court in London tomorrow.

Others charged include film director Ram Dvir, 47, and civil servant Mohammed Sattar, 34, both from Camden; 23-year-old banker Dean Martin, from Alperton and university scientist Alexander Seifalian, 48, of Hampstead. Five cab drivers were also charged.

More than 30 people were arrested during the purge on the notorious red light district in King's Cross last week.

A police source said the drive was launched after the Yard was inundated with complaints from residents concerned about rising levels of crime due to prostitution.

"Street prostitutes and kerb crawlers are ruining the lives of decent people living in Camden," he said. "The effects are devastating - they leave used condoms in the streets and some kerb crawlers even approach children."

As well as a fine the men face a driving ban under new laws introduced by the Government.

A police source said the arrests prove that kerb crawling is still a major issue for the Met.

Officers also arrested three prostitutes wanted for possessing a knife. One man has been arrested in connection with the abduction and assault of prostitutes.

More than 20 of the men charged with kerb crawling and bailed will appear at Highbury Corner magistrates' court tomorrow.
