Shy Brits go under wraps

Unlike Aussie babe Elle, Brits are a bit coy about getting into swimwear on our own shores

It only takes a glimmer of sunshine and London's parks suddenly seem awash with semi-naked sun worshippers.

But a study today reveals that the majority of Brits are too embarrassed to strip down to their swimsuits in the UK.

Although most people throw caution - and their clothes - to the wind when they go abroad, 52 per cent said they were too shy to do the same in the UK. And only one in five said they routinely stripped off at the first sign of sunshine.

The survey of 1,000 families, by Days Out magazine, found that when it came to a holiday in the UK, a day at the beach is the ideal outing for a third of people.

Elizabeth Beckett from Days Out said: 'It's great to see families getting behind the traditional UK seaside resorts."
