Kerr appeared in Kingston Crown Court via video link on Monday and the Daily Mail report she spoke only to confirm her identity and to enter a not guilty plea to the charge.
The charge dates back to an incident in Twickenham on January 30 2023, where it is alleged Kerr used insulting, threatening or abusive words that caused alarm or distress to PC Lovell - who was responding to a complaint involving a taxi fare.
Kerr has been told to attend a four-day trial, which will take place in February next year.
A Met spokesperson told Standard Sport: “Samantha Kerr, 30 (10.09.93) of Richmond was charged via postal charge requisition on 21 January with a racially aggravated offence under Section 4A Public Order Act 1986.
“The charge relates to an incident involving a police officer who was responding to a complaint involving a taxi fare on 30 January 2023 in Twickenham.”
Kerr is currently out injured and is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during Chelsea’s warm-weather training camp in Morocco in January.
The striker is one of the most high-profile players in the women’s game and led the Australian delegation as flag-bearer for King Charles III’s coronation at Westminster Abbey in May last year.
