Manchester City have booked their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup after a 2-1 win over Bournemouth.

17-year-old Liam Delap put City ahead with a wonderful strike 17 minutes into his debut before the visitors drew level through Sam Surridge 10 minutes before the break.

The Cherries held firm until the 75th minute when their resistance was finally broken by Phil Foden, who pounced on a loose ball to beat Mark Travers in the Bournemouth net

With fixtures already piling up, Pep Guardiola named a youthful line up with Eric Garcia, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Adrian Bernabe and Felix Nmecha all in the side along with Delap.

While Guardiola did call upon Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling with his side chasing a second, it was a City graduate who got the winner with Foden getting his seventh goal in his last 14 appearances.

City will take on Burnley at Turf Moor in the fourth round next week.
