Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has become England Under-21s' all-time top scorer after helping the Young Lions to victory against Turkey.

The 21-year-old striker scored his 14th goal in just 12 games in the age bracket on Tuesday night, latching onto Ryan Sessegnon’s through ball before beating the goalkeeper with a superb dinked finish.

Five minutes earlier, he spurned a golden opportunity from the penalty spot when his spot-kick hit the right-hand post.

But with Turkey going onto score a late on in injury time, Nketiah’s goal proved to be the winner in the 2-1 victory which also secured England’s place in next summer’s European Championship.

"It is amazing,” Nketiah told BT Sport. “It was nice to get the three points firstly but to get the record and be alongside those names and players it is a dream come true."

Aidy Boothroyd's side top Group Three and confirmed their place in Hungary and Slovenia next year with two matches to spare.
