Shop fronts, stage shows and exhibitions have all contributed to giving London the flavour of Bombay dreams. The V&A jumps on to the Bollywood bandwagon this week with a major exhibition of posters and hoardings from Indian cinema.

Landmark poster images from the museum's collection explore the vibrant culture as well as major themes in the development of Indian cinema, from the Fifties to the present day.

Specially commissioned artists from India put the fascinating technique of the art of hand-painting hoardings into practice, with three works being produced on site. Original film trailers and song-and-dance routines will be projected across the gallery walls, with work from contemporary Bollywood artists also included.

Most notably Turner-nominated Catherine Yass, whose first UK showing of her Star series of photographs (light-box images of Bollywood stars and Bombay's Art Deco cinemas) adds a cutting edge to the show.

Cinema India: The Art Of Bollywood, from Wed 26 Jun, Victoria and Albert Museum , Cromwell Road, SW7 (020-7942 2000).
