Guess what? Arnie's back!

I play Adam Gibson, an old-fashioned family man who earns a living as a pilot.

One night he comes home to discover that a clone has taken over his life - mysteriously, his perfect existence has been erased. Adam finds out that a corrupt billionaire, Drucker (Tony Goldwyn), had him cloned - he is forced to fight to get his life back and destroy Drucker's evil empire.

The cloning story was attractive to me because it was very current. I've read story after story on cloning, but none of them told me a great deal about the subject. I thought cloning somebody would only be possible a long time in the future. In pre-production, we realised how rapidly the science was progressing. I was stunned at the speed of new developments.

While we were prepping there was the sheep, then the cow, and then I received phone calls from scientists who were setting up a company to clone pets! I asked them if they were calling me because they knew about the movie - but they didn't, they were just looking for investors. I told them we have scenes in the film of a store called Repet, where my character goes to get his pet dog cloned. Now, I'm curious if they copy that name.

I don't share the same views as my character - he's much more behind the times about this than I am. He felt uncomfortable about cloning his pet. He was even uncomfortable driving a new car - he liked his '57 Cadillac. He would shave himself with a razor - I mean he's really behind the times, which of course works dramatically when his family is exposed to this scientific problem. For me, if cloning my dog was as common as in the movie, I'd say why not? If the kid was crying, I'd want to get my dog back. It's OK, here's 25 bucks - give me my dog! Thank you very much.
