Heung-min Son has written himself into the history books as the first senior Tottenham player to score at their new stadium.

After months of delays dating back to August, Spurs hosted their first Premier League game at their new £1billion home on Wednesday night, with London rivals Crystal Palace the visitors.

Tottenham had toiled for a historic opener throughout the first half, but headed in at the break frustrated.

Spaced continued to open up following the restart and it was Son, with a touch of luck, who wrote his name into the history books, cutting onto his left before a long range effort took a defection to evade Vicente Giaita.

"It's just amazing," spoke Son after the match." What an unbelievable stadium. The noise was just so loud.

"To score the first goal at this stadium...I just want to say to thank you to my team-mates and the fans.

"White Hart Lane is our history but the new stadium...I can't believe it. To play in it is an amazing feeling. It's a bit different from Wembley. Wembley was not our home."

Youngster J’Neil Bennett notched the first ever competitive goal at the new stadium when he opened the scoring for the Under-18s during a first test event last month.

Players and fans alike won’t have to wait long to come back to their new stadium with Manchester City visiting the Champions League on April 9.
